Museum Stores Association selects SmithBucklin to run full-service associations



WASHINGTON–(COMMERCIAL THREAD) – The Museum Store Association (MSA) has selected SmithBucklin,
the association management and services company that more organizations turn to than any other, to provide full-service association management. Steve Antolick will be the Executive Director of MSA and its headquarters will move to 2025 M St., NW, Washington, DC on August 1.

Founded in 1955, MSA is an international organization whose mission is to advance the not-for-profit retail industry and the success of the professionals who participate in it. By encouraging high standards of knowledge and professionalism, MSA helps nonprofit retail professionals better serve their institutions and the public. In 2017, MSA and its partners launched Museum Store Sunday, an annual international event, held on the last Sunday in November for customers to shop conscientiously and support museum stores and their missions around the world. Museum Store Sunday offers a special shopping experience in one-of-a-kind stores, featuring a wide assortment of highly selected, unique and mission-specific gifts.

In choosing SmithBucklin to manage the association, the MSA Board of Directors concluded that the experience, knowledge and skills of the company will move MSA forward and create new initiatives while building on the recent successes of the association. These include Sundays from the museum store; his renowned lecture, MSA FORWARD; its recently launched initiative with AmericasMart, The Museum Collective; and its publications, such as its recent Retail Industry Report.

Antolick has over 25 years of association management experience and has been an employee of SmithBucklin since 1992. During his tenure at SmithBucklin, he served various client organizations including the Events Industry Council, the International Association of Airport Duty Free Stores and the Check Payment Systems Association. Previously, he served other clients within the SmithBucklin Event Services team. Antolick holds a BA from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

SmithBucklin will provide MSA with a complete management solution. Antolick will work with the MSA Board of Directors to establish strategic goals and be responsible for developing and executing plans that deliver results. In addition, Antolick will oversee a team of SmithBucklin professionals who will be responsible for the administration of the association, including membership recruitment and retention, financial management, annual meeting management, marketing and corporate image. branding, communications and publications, educational administration and technology.
